What Do You Dip Your Vegetables In?

That’s a great question because now that we are on the fast, there are lots of great dips that you can’t eat, but the good news is there are two that you can…hummus and guacamole.

I’ve included the recipes here for both. But, if you don’t have time to make it, you can purchase both at the grocery store.

Hummus:

4 1/3 cooked garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained (2 – 15oz. cans)
3 garlic cloves peeled and minced
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 Tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon salt

Combine beans, garlic, lemon juice tahini, cumin,
paprika, lemon zest and salt in a food processor or blender.
Serve with vegetables. (after the fast you can serve it with crackers) 🙂

Guacamole:

*Blend ripe avacados in a food processor with juice from 1 large lime, 2 cloves garlic, 1 roma tomato, and a dash of salt. If you like spicy, you can add 1/4 of a jalapeno pepper seeded.
Serve on black beans, portobello mushrooms, or use as a dip with vegetables.

Happy Dipping,
Martha

You can also buy daniel-fast-friendly dips at Whole Foods. They have a nice variety of different flavors of hummus. Also they have a lot of different nut butters – soy nut butter, cashew butter, almond butter…yum!

Help with dessert? So someone please tell me, there has to be some kind of chocolate type vibe at GNC or Whole Foods that works within the Daniels Fast. Any ideas?

Anyone know where to get Tahini paste other than buying a case of it on Amazon.

I’d also like to know if soy sauce is “legal”. There is wheat in it.
You can get tahini paste at Whole Foods in Raleigh or Cary and you might also be able to find it at Kroger (they have a decent health food section).
