What Am I Suppose to Eat?

This is by far the most asked question when people start the Daniel’s fast.  First of all, let me say this is between you and God so some people may be more strict than others. Just remember that whatever you choose is between you and God.

Let me share with you some substitutes and snack ideas to help you as you start your adventure in a Daniel’s fast…

Since you can’t have milk, you can do Almond Milk of Coconut Milk (I don’t recommend soy because some people have negative reactions to soy).

For bread, you can do Ezekiel bread. It is found in the frozen food section. It comes frozen because it has no preservatives, which means it will go bad quickly if not frozen. It is very good toasted! We toast ours and put all natural peanut butter on it. Yum!

Speaking of peanut butter…use all natural peanut butter. You do have to stir it because all the peanut oil rises to the top. It’s not a big deal, just take a knife or spoon and stir the oil in and put it in the refrigerator. Since we started using all natural peanut butter on our very first fast, we’ve never gone back to regular peanut butter. You can add the natural peanut butter to Ezekiel bread, on celery, apples and bananas. It’s a great snack!

You can even find all natural corn chips that are not fried. My first couple of Daniel’s fast, I ate these chips. I don’t eat them now when I am fasting, but again, it is an option and it’s about what God is calling you to change.

One thing that will be helpful to do is buy lots of vegetables and cut them up so that they are ready when you need a snack. Carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, green and red peppers, etc. I always keep these on hand, cut up so that it’s easy to find a snack.

Two other great snack options are guacamole and hummus. They are both great dips for vegetables!

Fruit is also something you want to keep on hand throughout your fast.

I also buy Naked drinks and keep them in our refrigerator because they are a filling, healthy Daniel fast-friendly snack.

I hope this helps to get you thinking and if you have any questions, just respond on my blog and I will get them answered!

Sometimes God has to change us in the physical to make changes in the spiritual. You can do this! It’s just 21 days! But, what God can do in you in 21 days is supernatural!
