Unconditional Honor

What a powerful night we had at C3 last night at Chick Night!  Once again, I had a feeling the night was going to be powerful, but God blew my expectations away and did far more than I could think or imagine!  A little rain couldn't keep us away last night!

Here are a few points from the message…

Years ago, I would sit under Matt's leadership with a critical spirit thinking that I could lead just as well as Matt and he began to lose significance in my eyes.  One day, I read the story of Miriam  in Numbers 12 and God quickly began to change my heart. Miriam was Moses' sister and was in a place of influence under his leadership. But she began to see herself as equal to Moses, and God was unable to bless her because she didn't honor the position in which God had placed Moses.

God spoke to me clearly that day and said, "I have raised you up, but I have appointed Matt as the leader, and you need to honor him".  From there, I have been on a journey of learning how to honor those in authority unconditionally.
Point 1: That which becomes common loses it's significance.
Example:  If your boss or your husband or your pastor becomes common to you, he or she will begin to lose significance in your eyes.

Point 2:  The way you perceive something is the way it will be received.
Example:  If you perceive your husband as lazy, you will receive him that way; if you perceive your husband as a man of God, he will begin to become that in your eyes.

God has placed our husbands, our bosses, our pastors, and all other authority figures in our lives for a reason. Instead of complaining and asking God to change them, we must begin to honor the position they are in and ask God to change US.

Hebrews 13:17
"Obey your leaders and submit to their authority.  They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden for that will be of no advantage to you."

If you missed Chick Night, you can watch it on our live feed.  A copy of the sermon is also available in the Source.

Let's be women of unconditional honor and allow God  to change our hearts to be more like His!

Awesome worship and message! I came away with my heart pricked and my mind opened to some things I need to do to make sure I am honoring the authority figures in my life in a godly way-not in the Laurie way! Quick question: What do you do if an authority figure is NOT godly/annoited? I was reading Prov 29 today and it mentions this as well. I know you said honor the position, but what if God has NOT annoited the person (they have self appointed!)as demonstrated by their actions?
