Time

What an awesome First Wednesday service we had last nightt! The power of God was amazing as we worshipped, took communion, and witnessed baptism.

Last night, I spoke on time, and how to make time with God our number one priority in our day. (check out the podcast here!) Too often we find ourselves asking for more time in the day, when what we really need is to spend more time with God each day, and watch as He supplies the time and the wisdom we need to accomplish all we have to accomplish each day.

Proverbs 9:10-12

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.”

Getting into the word of God each day is so important. You must be in God’s word in order to know God.

Here is an example of a way to spend time praying to God and reading His word today.

Start by reading scripture.

Read Psalms 8 and Proverbs 8
As you read, praise God for how majestic His name is in all the earth.

Keeping a prayer journal is another great way to communicate with God. It is so easy to get distracted when you are praying and begin to think of to-do lists and grocery lists. One way to focus your prayers it to pray ‘ACTS’. Take time in each of these areas to pray.

A—adoration (He is Yahweh Rophe, a God who heals; praise Him for being a God who heals, cures, and restores)

C—confession (Confession your sins to God and ask Him to give you a pure heart)

T—thanksgiving (Write down 5 things that you are thankful for today)

S—supplication (choose a few people to pray for on their behalf)

There is power in prayer and we have a privilege and responsibility to pray for the loved ones in our lives. Tonight I spoke about several books that gave tips for how to pray for the people in your lives.

Wives—Pray against a spirit of fear for your husband; 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline.

Husbands—Pray for your wife’s relationships, and that God would bring other Godly women into her life

Parents—Pray for Godly friends and role models for your children; Proverbs 12:26 “The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray.”

Begin today by making time for God first, and He will supply you with the time, wisdom, and talent you need for the day.

God bless,

Martha

Hi!! I just wanted to say thank you Martha for your awesome leadership last night. I was feeling totally frazzled yesterday thinking how crazy my life is, and how weary I am with stress. I was so tired I almost didn’t come to service last night, but the spirit led me to drive the 30 min to church….and Wow!!! It was just what I needed!! Not only did I need to hear those words last night, but they will help me for the days and years to come. As a busy working Mom/Student, I feel like I sometimes am scattered in many places at one time. Your sermon last night was just what I needed to hear and your recommendations to help me get into His Word each day will be a blessing to my daily life. Thanks again!
