The Penny

I love to read, and when life gets stressful I escape with a good novel.  On my iphone I have an app that let’s me download books from Amazon and I love it because I always have a book with me.

Sometimes I can get so engrossed in a book that I put off doing what I need to be doing or stay up way too late because I don’t want to put it down.

And, sometimes I am sad when a book or series of books is over.  The characters in the books become like good friends and I hate to say good-bye.   Those are the ones I go back and re-read over time.

I just finished reading The Penny by Joyce Meyer.   I really enjoyed reading it, and it is a recommended read.  I thought the author did a great job of giving insight to why people who have been hurt act the way they do.   The book was very real in the fact that just because you are a christian doesn’t mean all your problems will go away.   Yet, the power of Jesus is very evident in this story.  She does deal with sexual abuse in the story, but it is handled very well.

So, go get the book, curl up with a cup of coffee or hot tea, and enjoy a good escape to another time and another place.
