Yesterday I spoke to the C3 staff about Overcoming Your Leadership Fears. (You can listen to the complete talk on the C3 Leadership Podcast by going here.) Every leader deals with fear. Fear of the future, fear of what people may think, fear of failure or fear of a lack of resources for the vision. Fear is a hindrance to receiving hope and sharing hope with others.
2 Timothy 1:7-8, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don't be ashamed of me, either, even though I'm in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News.”(NLT)
FEAR CAN HINDER US FROM SHARING HOPE WITH OTHERS
What are you afraid of? What are your greatest fears as a leader? As a staff member? As a Christian?
FEAR CAN HINDER US FROM STEPPING OUT IN FAITH
FEAR CAN HINDER US FROM RECRUITING OTHERS
Any great achievement in history was always done with a team! You might be tempted to think…
- Who would want to work with me? I don’t feel qualified to lead others.
- I don’t have enough time to build a team.
2 Timothy 2:1-2, “Timothy, my dear son, be strong with the special favor God gives you in Christ Jesus. You have heard me teach many things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Teach these great truths to trustworthy people who are able to pass them on to others.”(NLT)
- I can’t find anybody to do it right. This may work for a while but the problem is you will never grow your ministry if you don’t grow your teams.
God has not called us to have churches that just maintain and make plans based on what God did yesterday. But He has called us to keep dreaming big dreams, to lay down our personal preferences and conveniences and charge forward with passion like never have before. We have the privilege of being a part of a CAUSE that is greater than anyone of us could do alone. What a blessing! What an honor!
