Look we have made it 7 days! Yea! Good for you! If you are like me, you are beginning to feel different physically. (I’ve heard lots of people talking about what it is doing so I’ll let you fill in the blanks)
Dr. Don Colbert, M.D. is a medical doctor who has researched and studied the body’s need to rid itself of toxins which cause illness, disease, fatigue, and many other ailments. I cannot cover every medical aspect and benefit of fasting in this blog because I am not a doctor, but you can read about it in his book, Toxic Relief, for specific medical guidelines for fasting.
His chapter, “Finding Healing Through Fasting”, is an excellent source of information and cautions. He says “Fasting not only prevents sickness, if done correctly, fasting holds amazing healing benefits to those who suffer illnesses and disease. From cold and flus, to heart disease, fasting is a mighty key to healing the body.”
There are physical benefits to fasting, but I think the spiritual benefits are more amazing. In the story of Daniel (Daniel 1:20) he didn’t talk about how he had lost weight and all the positive physical things that were happening, he talked about how God gave him 10 times the wisdom of others. So let’s not just talk about all the things that are happening physically, but lets also notice what God is doing spiritually.
“It is my prayer that you are drawing strength from each other and that you are truly experiencing the power that is found in fellowship with the Body of Christ.”
