Monday Morning Recap

Matt kicking off SUPERNATURAL

This weekend Matt launched a new series called SUPERNATURAL! He will be looking at miracles in the Old Testament and miracles in the New Testament. Some may be familiar and others may not. But our prayer is that you would discover what an Awesome God we have.

Awesome Worship

Matt and I praying over the 24/7 Interns

Psalm 77:14, “You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.”

The first miracle he looked at is the miracle of the flood. This is considered a miracle of God’s power and nature. But I think we will see that it is really a miracle of FAITH and God’s protection.

In the Bible we see many examples of God doing the SUPERNATURAL. One story was of Noah building the Ark. Do you remember this story? If you grew up in church you probably heard this story more than once.

God was disappointed that there was so much sin in the world and decided He was going to start over…. After only 1600 years God was going to wipe out the whole earth. There were 1,000,000 people that lived on the earth at that time. But He found one man that was righteous… one man who had favor from God… Noah.

He told Noah to build a big boat because He was going to flood the earth. Can you imagine the emotions and doubts that Noah must have been feeling? They are going to think I’m crazy if I start building a boat out here in the middle of a desert.

My prayer is that God would find me righteous. Why did God choose Noah? Hebrews 11: 103,6-7 tells us why.

Hebrews 11:1-3, 6-7, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. 7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.”

He had faith! It doesn’t say because he had skill, or he had talent, or he was an experienced carpenter, it says in verse 7:
BY FAITH Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. BY HIS FAITH he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by FAITH.”

Every miracle begins and ends with faith. Not just any kind of faith, but an audacious faith in an awesome and powerful God. We know that without faith it is impossible to please God but with faith all things are possible!

AUDACIOUS Faith Happens:

1. When we begin to see what God sees.

What is audacious? Dictionary defines it as, “Fearlessly, often recklessly daring; bold.”

Hebrews 11:1-3, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”(NIV)

Even when we can’t see it, we have to trust God.
Even when we can’t see a way out, God will find a way.
Even when we can’t see a way for God to put our marriage back together, God will find a way.
Even when we can’t see how God can forgive us of our past, God will find a way.
Even when we can’t see how God can provide, God will find a way.
God will find a way when it feels like there is no way. When we put our FAITH in Him!

2. When we believe that God can do the impossible.

Hebrews 11:6, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”(NIV)

This had never been done before! It had never rained, He had never built a boat before; there had never been a flood before; he had probably never loaded up animals in a boat before; he probably had never preached repentance like he did knowing that the flood was coming. This looked impossible on so many levels!

Never isn’t an obstacle for God! He specializes in NEVER.
Hebrews 11:7, “…He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before…”(NLT)

It takes faith to trust God for the SUPERNATURAL.
Audacious Faith is believing that God can do the impossible. That All things are possible with Him!

Supernaturally, God provided a way for their family to be saved!  When we believe and trust in God our family will be saved. How many times do we see a Father receive Christ and the rest of his family does as well?  That’s not a coincidence. When we step out on faith and BELIEVE that Jesus is our Savior and Lord and put our faith in God people get saved!

3. Leads to obedience even when it doesn’t make sense.

Obedience –trusting God even though it doesn’t make sense. Obedience is Audacious

Faith in Action! It’s one thing to say I have faith that God can do this… it’s another thing to say I am going to obey God by taking a step of faith. That’s when it gets challenging, scary and fun! That’s when we discover and experience the power of God because we are out of our comfort zone!

Noah obeyed even though it didn’t make sense.
Hebrews 11:7, “…He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before…”(NLT)

God gave Noah details of how to build the boat.
• Dimensions, 450 feet long, 70 feet wide, 45 ft high.
• Told him what kind of wood to use, what to coat it with
• Put windows 18 inches from the top, door on the side,
• 3 decks.. lower, middle, and upper.
• Fill it with 2 of every kind of animal. Can you imagine that? Bible scholars say there were approx. 4500 animals in the ark.
• God said put your family in there and take enough food with you. So he loaded up his wife and three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth and their wives.

Genesis 6:22, “Noah did everything just as God commanded him.”(NIV)
Circle the word “everything.” He built the ark out of obedience but God saved his family and as a result saved the world! It rained for 40 days and 40 nights and they were on the boat for one whole year with their family and animals. God provided the symbol of his promise with a rainbow, Revelation 4:3

Why did he choose Noah?
Genesis 6:9, “This is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God.”

God searched the whole planet and found one person who was faithful and willing to trust God. My question for you today is… Will You Be The One?

Will you be the one to experience God’s SUPERNATURAL power?
Will you be the one that will take a stand even if everyone around you doesn’t, even if people make fun of you? Even if it risks losing friends?
Students, will you be the one to bring friends from school to the SYATP rally and then gather at our flag pole on that Wednesday morning for prayer no matter what people might think or say?
Parents, will you be the one to lead your family God’s way and not do what everyone else is doing?
Single adults are your friendships and dating relationships going to be led by God or by the crowd?
Will you take a step of faith even if you aren’t guaranteed the results?
Will you be the one to make a difference?

Let’s live with audacious faith and watch God do the supernatural!

Let’s choose to SEE WHAT GOD SEES, BELIEVE IN THE IMPOSSIBLE and OBEY WHEN IT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE.

It was as awesome weekend at C3! If you missed the sermon you can listen to it on the podcast.

Hoping “you will be the One”,
Martha
