Monday Morning Recap

We had an incredible weekend at C3 Church this weekend! Anthony Evans, who was on this season’s episode of the NBC show The Voice, was with us all three services leading worship! We have known Anthony for several years and it is awesome to see how God is using him!

We continued our REALationship series with an awesome message from Matt on Real Family.

If you missed this weekend’s message, I encourage you to watch it here and listen to it here. Also,if you were not at C3 this weekend, or if you would like to give your tithe or offering, you can give online by clicking here.

When we have baggage from the past that we drag into our relationships and we try to pretend like it’s not there we pay the price!

Ephesians 4:20-32, “But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. 21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. 25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. 26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil. 28 If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need. 29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. 30 And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”(NLT)

Types of Baggage We Carry…

BITTERNESS  – Hebrews 12:15, “Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.”(NLT)

RAGE – John 10:19-20, “ When he said these things, the people[a] were again divided in their opinions about him. 20 Some said, “He’s demon possessed and out of his mind (Mainomai). Why listen to a man like that?” 21 Others said, “This doesn’t sound like a man possessed by a demon! Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”(NLT)

HARSH WORDS – Proverbs 16:23, “Intelligent people think before they speak.  What they say is then more persuasive.”

Ask a few questions before you speak…

Is it Truthful?

Is it Hopeful?

Is it Inspirational?

Is it Necessary?

Is it Kind?

SLANDER – Proverbs 12:22, “The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful.”

Take the luggage and drop it off at the cross.

Matthew 11:28-30, “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
