Monday Morning Recap

This weekend we had the awesome privilege of hosting Pastor Jonathan & Dianne Wilson from Newport Church in Newport Beach, California. Pastor Jonathan & Dianne were on staff at Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia for 28 years before moving to Newport Beach six years ago to start Newport Church.

Pastor Jonathan spoke a powerful message on expansion & contraction. If you missed this weekend’s message, you can watch it here or listen to it here. Also, if you were not at C3 this weekend, or if you would like to give, you can give online by clicking here.

Like our lives, Joseph’s life was a series of expansions and contractions. In the expansions of life, things flow effortlessly. In the contractions of life, things flow with difficulty. To grow, we must experience times of expansion and contraction.

Isaiah 54:1-3Sing, O barren, You who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, You who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married woman,” says the Lord. “Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited.”

Genesis 37:3;24 “Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age. Also he made him a tunic ofmany colors.

“Then they took him and cast him into a pit. And the pit was empty; there was no water in it.”

Joseph’s first expansion was PATERNAL BLESSING.

His first contraction was in the PIT.

Genesis 39:2-4; 20  The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that theLord made all he did to prosper in his hand.  So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority.”

Joseph’s second expansion was POTIPHAR’S HOUSE.
His second contraction was PRISON.
“Then Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were confined. And he was there in the prison.”
Genesis 41: 14, 16; 46, 48 ” Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him quickly out of the dungeon; and he shaved, changed his clothing, and came to Pharaoh.”
So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”
“Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.”
“So he gathered up all the food of the seven years which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities; he laid up in every city the food of the fields which surrounded them”
In the contractions of life, God is shaping us and molding us. Within every contraction lies the seed of the next expansion!
Remember, we are BLESSED in the expansion and we are BLESSED in the contraction!
