Monday Morning Recap

This weekend we continued our new series, Yeshua from the book of Matthew. If you missed the sermon, you can watch it here and listen to it here.

Matthew 1:18-25, “This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet:

“Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’” When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife. But he did not have sexual relations with her until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus.”(NLT)

OPPORTUNITIES DON’T ALWAYS COME THE WAY WE EXPECT

Sometimes God will open doors of opportunity that we aren’t expecting.

Sometimes God closes doors that we were expecting!

WE HAVE TO BE READY TO STEP UP TO THE CHALLENGE

WE CAN’T LIVE IN FEAR BUT WE MUST WALK BY FAITH

ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT GOD IS WITH US!

This is a great video that Matt showed during his message to demonstrate that opportunities don’t always look the way we expect them to, but God gives us the strength to walk in victory with Him.

As I sat and listened to the message, I thought of this personal application…

God called Joseph to raise His Son Jesus.  God knew it would take a special young man to raise His Son; to be the man in Jesus’ life.  It had to be a young man who loved God, who trusted God, who obeyed God, and knew the Word of God to teach Jesus the scriptures.   In the old testament it was the duty of the father to teach the scriptures to the children.

What an opportunity Joseph had to raise the Son of God! But, guess what, God has given you children to raise and He wants them to become children of God.  When they get saved you are raising children of the King.

We can look at Mary and Joseph and say “wow, what an honor to be chosen to raise Jesus”.  But God has also given you an amazing opportunity to raise your kids.   Do you love God, do you trust God, do you obey God? Are you teaching your kids the Word of God?

God has given you an amazing opportunity to raise the kids He has given you.   Are you going to parent by fear or by faith?   Are you going to parent in reaction to how you were parented or are you going to parent according to the scriptures?

Mary and Joseph were entrusted with raising Jesus however, God has also in trusted you with raising your kids that He created.
