Monday Morning Recap

This weekend we continued our LOVE series! Matt spoke a great word on how love does not demand its own way and is not irritable. If you missed this weekend’s message you can listen to it here and watch it here.

Today, Matt and I are leaving for 10 days for Africa with Children’s Cup. Children’s Cup is an awesome organization that our church has partnered with for several years. While we are there we will be training pastors in Zimbabwe with a team of other pastors from the US. We appreciate your prayers as we travel!

I Corinthians 13:1-5, “If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud.  or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.”(NLT)

Galatians 5:13-26, “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.”(NIV)

Instead of demanding our own way, we should…

Serve One Another

Love Others As You Love Yourself

Walk By The Spirit

Crucify the Flesh

Proverbs 21:14, “A quietly given gift soothes an irritable person; a heartfelt present cools a hot temper.”(Message)
