This weekend we started our new series, LOVE, at C3! I am so excited about this series and all that God is going to do in and through our church over the next few weeks. We are praying for a LOVE revolution!! Matt challenged all of us to start thinking of ways that we can show love to people every day, no strings attached!
During this series, our sermon-based connect groups will be studying along with Matt’s message during the week and supplementing with Joyce Meyer’s book, Love Revolution. This is an inspiring book that will change the way you look at loving others. You can purchase this book in the Source!
We also celebrated with several new believers in baptism this weekend! Seeing life change is what it’s all about and it never gets old watching people dedicate their lives to Christ!
Matt’s message was a challenging word on what LOVE really is. Culture and media have their own definition of love that is far from God’s love. If you missed this weekend’s message or if you’d like to share it with someone, you can watch it here and listen to it here.
I Corinthians 13:1-3, “If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.”(NLT)
Here is how Matt broke down the verse this weekend…
Demonstrating love is better than speaking multiple languages. Without love, we are simply making noise.
Demonstrating love is better than using your spiritual gifts. The fruit of the spirit (love, joy, peace…) is more important than the gifts of the spirit.
Demonstrating love is better than having head knowledge. Knowledge by itself puffs up. Love builds up.
Demonstrating love is better than having mountain moving faith. It is love that gives our faith purpose and direction.
Demonstrating love is better than giving to the poor. If our motive in giving is not love, we gain nothing from blessing others.
Galatians 6:7-10, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”(NIV)
I want to challenge and encourage you to be at C3 every weekend during our LOVE series so that we can get God’s perspective on love and so that we can all be part of a love revolution!
