Sunday was an incredible day at C3! There was lots going on all over campus! In C3 Kids, we had Slammin’ Jammin’ Weekend and all of the kids went home with snowcones from Pelican’s! We also recognized all of our graduates from high school all the way through graduate school in our services and had a lunch reception for them and their families. Matt and I are so proud of all of the graduates and are excited for what God has in store for their future! After each service we also had our Discovery Classes for new members, and we got to meet lots of new families that are coming to C3!
We continued our Five Star series from James and Matt talked on living a spirit-led life! You can watch the sermon here and listen to it here. He spoke from James 4 on the difference between living a self-led life and a spirit-led life.
James 4:13-17, “Look here, you who say, Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit. How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” Otherwise you are boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil. Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”(NLT)
Traps of the Self-Led Life:
The Trap of Bragging. Proverbs 27:1, “Don’t brag about tomorrow, since you don’t know what the day will bring.”
The Trap of Boasting. Proverbs 27:2, “Let someone else praise you, not your own mouth— a stranger, not your own lips.”(NLT)
Jonah 1:1-5, “The Lord gave this message to Jonah son of Amittai: Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh. Announce my judgment against it because I have seen how wicked its people are. But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the Lord. He went down to the port of Joppa, where he found a ship leaving for Tarshish. He bought a ticket and went on board, hoping to escape from the Lord by sailing to Tarshish. But the Lord hurled a powerful wind over the sea, causing a violent storm that threatened to break the ship apart. Fearing for their lives, the desperate sailors shouted to their gods for help and threw the cargo overboard to lighten the ship.”(NLT)
