Yesterday was an incredible day at C3 Church. Ascend the Hill from Tampa, Florida led us in worship for our two main services, and for our C3 Student’s C3 Navidad! You can check out there website and even download their music here.
Matt also continued our series, Christmas Presence with a powerful word on God’s Love. You can listen to the message here. In God’s presence we experience love because God is love. To know God is to know real love.
Matthew 1:20-25, “But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, “God with us.” Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.”(NKJV)
Jesus is “God with Us” and He wants us to experience His LOVE. God wants us to experience His love, which is why He sent His son to this earth.
There were 3 main points about what God’s love is that came from Luke 15:7-24,
“When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.”’“So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.“But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast, for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.’ So the party began.”(NLT)
His Love Is Unconditional – Instead of reminding the Prodigal Son of the mistakes he had made, the father welcomed him back with open arms. He offered him a second change. The same is true of our Heavenly Father. His love for us is unconditional. We make mistakes and we go our own way, but our Father is always there to offer us a fresh start through repentance.
His Love is Generous – The Prodigal son’s father clothed him, put a ring on his finger, fed him, and threw him a party. Our Heavenly Father is the same with us. He doesn’t give us what we deserve, instead He covers us with His grace and gives us much more than we deserve.
His Love is Sacrificial – I John 4:10, “This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”(NIV)
Jesus loves us with a sacrificial love. Because He loved us, He sent His only Son to die for our sins so that we could spend eternity with Him. He made the ultimate sacrifice for you and for me.
This Christmas season, don’t miss His Presence because it is in His presence that we experience His unconditional, generous, and sacrificial love!
