Happy Memorial Day! Today is a day we honor all those who have served or are currently serving in any branch of our country’s armed forces and thank them for their sacrifice for our country’s freedom! We are blessed to live in a country where we have so many freedoms and I am thankful for all the men and women who have defended that freedom with their lives!
We started a great new series this weekend at C3 called SHIFT. When things shift, they change! This month in our home we are experiencing lots of shifts. Our oldest daughter graduated from high school and with that comes lots of change for our family. Change is one of those things in life you can just count on! At C3 we have even joked before that one of the 3 C’s stand for Change because we always want to be open to what the Holy Spirit is doing and how the needs of the community and the culture are evolving.
How do you handle shifts?
In Matt’s message this weekend, he reminded us of some important steps we should take when we are experiencing shifts in our lives…
“I am the Lord, and I do not change….. (Malachi 3:6 NLT)
For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken,” says the Lord, who has mercy on you. (Isaiah 54:10 NLT)
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. (John 16:13 NLT)
The Holy Spirit gives us the power to make a difference.
And he said, “Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day. It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’ You are witnesses of all these things. “And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.” (Luke 24:46-49 NLT)
What shifts are you going through right now? How can you honor God in them?
