Lie Vs. Truth

Satan has fed us lies and we have lied to ourselves for so long that sometimes we don’t even know the truth. The Bible tells us we will know the truth and the truth will set us free. I wanted to share with you 5 lies that we tend to believe and then I want to share with you the truth backed up by scripture. Then you can begin to change your thinking and begin speaking truth into your life.

LIE:  If my life is a mess, it doesn’t hurt anyone but me.

TRUTH:  You are not an island. You are connected to everyone around you. Your decisions matter to those you touch.

1 John 3:16 “We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.”

LIE: What happened to me is unforgivable.

TRUTH: Holding on to your past will keep you from enjoying the present and moving forward to your future.

Matthew 6:14 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.”

LIE: God just wants my needs met….the rest is up to me.

TRUTH: God the God of abundance and He wants us to live abundant lives. Jesus came so we can have and enjoy life in abundance and to the full.

John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”

LIE: I can eat whatever I want and do whatever I want. It doesn’t matter to God.

TRUTH: Discipline is a tool given by God to help you reach your goals.

1 Corinthians 6:19,20 “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

LIE: I can manage this behavior – no need to change.

TRUTH: Never be satisfied with being anything less than you can be!

1 Corinthians 6:12 “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.”
