Kicking Off The New Year Right

Thursday morning, I had the privilege of attending the Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast. The Mayor of Garner, Ronnie Williams, invited me to attend this event held every January to kick off the new year with prayer.

(Johnny Evans, me, and Mayor Ronnie Williams)

In addition to prayer the morning was filled with good music, good food, and connecting with friends and community leaders. The speaker was former All American football player, Johnny Evans who played QB at NC State and played professionally with the Cleveland Browns.
Currently he is the Eastern NC Fellowship of Christian Athletes director and the voice of the Wolfpack. He shared a powerful message from 2 Timothy 1. It was encouraging to see such a diverse group united together as one coming together in prayer. It’s gonna be a great year!

That sounds like a great way to start the year. It also really makes sense for you to go to the Mayors Prayer Breakfast since you’ve called the “Mayor of Cleveland”! 🙂
I also agree with those who pointed out the timeliness of God sending Steve Kelly to share with us this week!

It sounds as if you had a great time. I have heard Johnny Evans many times on the Wolfpack broadcasts. I haven’t had the chance to hear him speak the Word yet. I bet Scott Randlett wanted to go. Can’t wait for Sunday!!!
