Today’s post comes from John Cole, Project 919 director at C3.
Today’s Reading: Proverbs 9
Today’s Key Scripture: (Proverbs 9:1-6 NLT) “Wisdom has built her house; she has carved its seven columns. She has prepared a great banquet, mixed the wines, and set the table. She has sent her servants to invite everyone to come. She calls out from the heights overlooking the city. “Come in with me,” she urges the simple. To those who lack good judgment, she says, “Come, eat my food, and drink the wine I have mixed. Leave your simple ways behind, and begin to live; learn to use good judgment.”
Ladies, have you ever received an invitation to a wedding? Did you notice the care that was taken in putting it together? The crisp folds, lace bows and vintage script. Men, have you ever been on a guided hunting trip where everything was prepared and ready upon your arrival? Or how about a vacation, all-inclusive, everything paid for and at its best?
Wisdom offers that same quality for our lives. The table has been set! All we must do is seek it and learn to obey it. Many times, it’s not that we don’t “know of” or have “access” to wisdom, but it’s our willing response to its invitation. All three examples above took planning, sacrifice, and good judgement.
Let’s put that same effort into our daily walk with God. As Pastor Matt stated in last weekend’s service: let’s get into God’s Word, pray and apply the wisdom that He has laid out for us.
Prayer Focus: Lord, thank you for another day and opportunity to do your will. Thank you for loving me just as I am and for setting the table of blessing for my life. Instill in me a desire to seek out wisdom and the discipline to obey it. Give me understanding, that I may begin to use good judgement and leave behind old ways of thinking. As I grow in the wisdom that comes from your Word, help me to encourage others to do the same. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
