Today’s Reading: Proverbs 8
Today’s Key Scripture: Proverbs 8:1,17 NIV “Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?… I (wisdom) love those who love me and those who seek me find me.”
Have you ever faced a big decision and you feel like the right answer is hiding from you? As a recovering perfectionist, always searching for the “right answer,” I have often found myself in this place. Then one day, I discovered the most liberating truth tucked away in the pages of my Bible. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault and it will be given to you…” I can remember reading this passage and thinking it CANNOT be that easy. Just ask? But there it was, written in front of me. So I decided to test it out. I would have a question and then I would ask God. I was determined to refuse to believe that I did not know what to do. I would simply confess that I had the answer and that I knew exactly what to do. And do you know what? The most marvelous thing began to happen. Soon, a peace would come over my heart and when it came time for a decision, I really did know what to do.
There are a lot of different voices calling out to us these days. There, in the midst of them, is wisdom. Scripture promises that if we will seek her, we will find her. I can so relate with this passage because as I have learned to love seeking her, she has loved me back with answers.
So, whatever that question is that you need an answer to, I challenge you to ask for wisdom and wait to see what God, in His faithfulness, will do.
Prayer focus: “God I ask you today for wisdom concerning this situation. You said in your word that all I have to do is ask for it and believe I have received it. So I thank you God that I have wisdom concerning ( ). I know exactly what to do and I am going to do it! In Jesus Name, Amen.”
