I Have Decided – Proverbs 10

Today’s post comes from Paulla Dornheim, Cafe and Bookstore director at C3.

Sticks & Stones

Today’s Reading: Proverbs 10

Today’s Key Scripture: Proverbs 10:19 NLT “Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.”

“Sticks & Stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”

Many of us have heard this saying before and I must admit that I can remember the hurtful things that I’ve said much easier than the nice ones.

There are so many verses in this chapter that speak to the words that we choose and say. Your mouth can lead to your destruction and downfall; it can lead to poverty and lack, unhappiness, failed relationships, low self-esteem and more.

Our negativity affects not only ourselves, but others as well. Because God says that He has plans to prosper us, when we speak negatively, we are actually cursing the blessings that He has for us!

Verse 22 says: “The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.”

I don’t know about you, but I would like to experience every blessing God has for my family and me. I also want others to experience those same blessings.

Begin speaking the Word of God over your life. Study His Word and find scripture that tells you what God has to say about your situation.

Words are seeds that can yield a good or bad harvest depending on what you speak. Don’t let your mouth get in the way of your blessings. Make a decision today to speak life over yourself and others.

Prayer Focus: Heavenly Father, I thank you for your Word and for your blessings. From this day forward, may I only speak life-giving words over others and myself. Help me to focus on your word and may the Holy Spirit guide me in my conversations so that I can glorify you with all that I say.
