How To Prepare For The Daniel Fast

As Christians, there are times in our lives when we must deny ourselves physically in order to press in spiritually. When we fast, we remove distractions and strengthen our spirit and connection with God.

Before Jesus began His public ministry he fasted for 40 days. You can read about His fast in Matthew 4:1-11, Mark 1:12-13, and Luke 1:1-13.

For the next 21 days, we as a church family are fasting and praying, believing God for miraculous breakthroughs!

In preparation to begin the fast, I thought it would be helpful to go over what the Daniel fast is and what foods it includes.

The Daniel fast is basically taking out the meats and the sweets, and eating fruits and vegetables. This includes taking out all processed foods. If you’re used to grab and go foods, then initially, this may take a little bit of work. However, what I have found is that taking the time to prepare my meals causes me to slow down. Whether I am cutting vegetables or making a soup, I love filling that time with prayer and thanksgiving to God.

If you are unsure about eggs or coffee, these are totally your choice. Some people do and some don’t. You can make that decision! Just remember fasting is more about the position of your heart than the food you eat.

On Pinterest, you can find some great recipes and meal ideas. I’ll also be posting some of my favorites throughout the next 21 days.

Be sure to join us at C3 Church for our Prayer Services during the 21 Days of Prayers and Fasting. The schedule is listed below.
