Headed To The Hill City

This week I will be in Lynchburg, VA for Liberty University’s first Church Planting Summit. I’d appreciate your prayers as I speak to 10,000 university students and church planters on Wed. morning. I will also be speaking in several classes at Liberty. As you probably know, I graduated from Liberty in 1987 and served on staff at Thomas Road in the student ministry before launching C3 in 1998. It’s an honor to be asked to speak at my alma mater… especially for such a special event. The Summit will include several days of activities and meetings focused on planting churches. Pastor Jonathan Falwell will also be holding a meeting with the leaders from several church planting organizations and denominations. One of the primary purposes is how we can network together to plant hundreds of churches in the next few years. These are exciting days! I will try my best to send out a blog during the week and give you updates. This has the potential of being a historic meeting for the future of church planting in the U.S. and around the world.
Some of the church planting leaders that will be involved are:
Jonathan Falwell – Pastor, Thomas Road Baptist Church
Ed Stetzer – Lifeway, (SBC) and Purpose Driven Church Planting
Billy HornsbyAssociation of Related Churches
Dr. Ergun Caner – President, Liberty Seminary
Nelson Searcy – Pastor, The Journey Church, New York City
Brian Bloye – Pastor, West Ridge Church, Atlanta

How exciting that is for you, Pastor Matt! Not everyone gets the chance to speak at their alma mater. Way to go! Wish I could be there to hear you speak, but somebody’s got to stay behind and hold down the fort!! I’ll be in prayer for you and your family as you travel up there today. Have a great time and we’ll see you this weekend for Super Sunday!!

These are exciting times Pastor Matt. Not only for C3 but for the whole body of Christ. I feel that God is creating a new revival of the Church all over our great nation and the world. We are proud of you, and thank you for your leadership and passionate heart not only here at C3 but everywhere God leads you. I’ll be in prayer for you as you travel to Virginia, and may God give you the words that will burn in the hearts of those he has chosen to go out and build new churches and plant the seeds of everlasting harvest.

Pastor, just came across your blog. My wife and I may be moving to NC, and came across C3. We are in a great church now in ATL, and dreaded having to find a new church, but this looks like a place where we could connect. Please pray for us as a decision will be made on the job I interviewed for in NC. I pray I get the job, and look forward to visiting C3

  • You did an awesome job in convo yesterday, Pastor Matt! Throughout the day, I heard comments from the students of how much they enjoyed the speaker & were challenged to trust God for the impossible!
