In 1964 the Righteous Brothers sang what has become a classic song, “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feelin’”.
Many relationships struggle and never become what God planned because they feel like they’ve lost that loving feeling. But great relationships aren’t built on a feeling.
Great relationships are built on a commitment and out of that flows the feelings. Our emotions can go up and down, but when our relationship is based on a commitment to love each other no matter what they can thrive!
Martha and I have been married for almost 23 years. And we joke it’s been the best 22 years of our life. Because the first year of our marriage was extremely difficult for many reasons. Primarily, we were both settled in our ways, I was selfish, and our communication was horrible.
But thankfully we held onto each other, held on to Jesus (or I should say He held on to us) and we worked hard at serving each other and communicating honestly and not burying feelings in the sand.
God’s Word says in 1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
The greatest of these is LOVE! Wow. We know that faith is important. The Bible says without faith it is impossible to please God. We know that hope is important. Without hope how can we live out God’s plan for our life? But God says the GREATEST of all of these virtues is LOVE.
As we approach Valentines Day this Saturday, I can’t think of a better way to invest into your relationships than signing up for the FOREVER CONFERENCE at C3 Church coming up March 5-7. This 3 day conference, which begins Thursday night with Jimmy Evans, is not just a marriage conference. It is a relationship conference. So if you are single, married, engaged, in a dating relationship or just want your relationships to flourish, you will be blessed by this conference!
I am so pumped to have author and speaker Jimmy Evans from Marriage Today joining us this year, as well as Pastor Andy Thompson who authored the books “Real Love” and “Handle with Care”.
If you want to register or have any questions go to ForeverConference.org…even if you’ve lost that lovin’ feelin’.
