Defining Moments and Great Friends

Life is filled with defining moments… And this weekend is a defining moment for the C3 Church family and for Martha and I. I am so blessed to have some amazing ministry friends who encourage, support and challenge me. Many of them will be here this Sunday to celebrate with us as we dedicate our new worship center. They will be coming from Nashville, TN, Lynchburg, VA, Tucson, AZ, Mt. Pleasant, SC and Farmville, VA. It’s going to be a weekend we will never forget. Two of my friends will be speaking this Sunday…

Bio_gsurrattGreg Surratt – Pastor of Seacoast Church, Charleston, SC will be speaking Sunday morning for both services. Greg is a good friend of ours and has been a huge encouragement to me during some challenging times. We’ve also taken several trips to Chennai, India together training about 800 pastors and church leaders.

FalwellJonathan Falwell – Pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church, Lynchburg, VA will be speaking Sunday night. Jonathan was the Executive Pastor at Thomas Road when I served as Senior High Minister before launching C3 Church. Jonathan’s dad, the late Dr. Jerry Falwell, spoke for the dedication service of our first facility almost 6 years ago and it’s an honor to have his son Jonathan here as we dedicate our new worship center.

You Can Share Your Defining Moment.

I’d love to hear a defining moment in your life… How has God change your life? When did you experience a defining moment in your life? Do you remember when you first attended C3?

God has done amazing things throughout my life especially when I was at a crossroads in my ministry. Just a little over 2 years ago I was happily serving on staff at an amazing church in Southern California and never thought I would leave. I believed God had planted my family there forever. BUT…He had other plans. As I listened to Him and sought His face He made it clear that it was time to “step out into deep water” and trust Him completely. This was a defining moment in my life. Never in my wildest dreams would I have moved my family across the U.S. from So.Cal to live in Clayton, NC. Who does that? But once I met Pastor Matt & Martha, heard the vision and was loved on by the family at C3 Church I knew this was the place to be. Thank God that I listened and obeyed His voice so I too could experience the DREAM that God has for us!

I remember always feeling like I had a call on my life to be in ministry, working with the next generation, but about a year of coming to C3 and serving with C3 Kids, it finally became clear where God had me headed, believe it or not, it became abundantly clear to me what God had in store for me at a Carolina Hurricanes Hockey game and Praise God, my life has never been the same since. It’s a privelege to be a part of a church where God is doing such amazing things.
