Over the next few of weeks, I will be sharing with you some of my family’s favorite meals to eat during the Daniel Fast.
To start off, here are some great breakfast recipes and ideas!
Remember: Drink a lot of water all day. Add some lemons, limes, or cucumbers for a little extra flavor!
1 1/2 C water
2 large kale leaves (with stems)
3 large handfuls spinach (or 3 cups of greens)
2 cups frozen mixed berries
1 scoop of organic plant-based protein powder (any flavor)
2 tbsp. sprouted flax (optional)
In a high-speed blender, blend water, ice, and greens for 30 seconds. Add fruit, protein powder, sprouted flax and blend until smooth.
Pink Breakfast Smoothie
11⁄2 C coconut liquid/water/juice (from a young coconut or a can, found in almost any food store; not coconut milk)
2 Tbsp. organic raw beet, peeled
1 large organic carrot, scrubbed
1⁄4 C sprouted raw sunflower seeds, soaked overnight and drained
2 Tbsp. chopped dates OR 2 large pitted dates
12 oz. frozen organic strawberries
1 Tbsp. sprouted flaxseeds, flaxseed oil, or hemp seed oil
Purée all but the strawberries and flax seeds (or flaxseed/hemp seed oil) in a high-speed blender for 90 seconds. Add the strawberries and flax seed (or flaxseed/hemp seed oil) and blend until smooth, about 90 seconds. Serve immediately.
1/3 C organic regular (not instant) rolled oats
1 C water
A pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Few drops of liquid stevia (optional)
Bring water to a boil, then add oats. Reduce heat and simmer 10-12 minutes. Add cinnamon and stevia if desired.
For this one, cut up and combine any of your favorite fruit (Apples, pineapple, grapes, strawberries, etc.) to create a delicious fruit salad.
You can get Ezekiel bread in the frozen foods section of your local grocery store. Toast the Ezekiel bread, and then add coconut oil, honey, or even organic fruit jelly and peanut butter.
