Chick Night Messages

Sunday night’s Chick Night was a little different than the other Chick Night’s we have hosted.  This Chick Night we decided to have two speakers.

Tami Poland, our children’s minister, opened the night with a message on the faith & courage and I closed with a message on love.

If you were unable to join us or would like to see the message again, check them out at the bottom of this blog.

I really felt like God wanted me to speak from Colossians 3:5-12 on love being a choice.  In order for us to choose love, there are things in our lives that we have to PUT TO DEATH, such as sexual immorality, impurity, lust, greed, and evil desires.  There are other things that we have to RID OURSELVES OF, like anger, malice, slander, filthy language, and rage.  Then we are able to add to our lives the characteristics of Christ – these are the things we must PUT ON.

As an illustration, I compared each of these traits to an outfit that we put on (you can see it on the podcast).  These traits are compassion, humility, kindness, gentleness, patience, forgiveness, and of course, love.

Tami delivered a strong message from Joshua 2:1-16 on the story of Rahab.

Rahab was a woman who had the faith to trust God and the courage to act. Tami challenged us with being women of great faith and courage. Rahab was a woman who had a BIG faith in a BIG God and believed Him for BIG things.

Tami has been a member of our staff for five years and it has been such a joy to work with her and watch her grow in her skills as a leader.

I was so proud of Tami and  the message that she delivered on Sunday night that was challenging and inspiring.

Tami, thank you for seeking God for what He would have you speak and delivering it with great strength!

  • Martha,

Chick night, once again, was an awe-inspiring event. To be able to come together with over 800 women and worship, laugh, learn, and draw closer not only to each other but more importantly to God. You and Tami both brought a powerful word from God for each of us. Thank you both for being obedient to God’s call on your life and doing whatever it takes, even when it’s not easy, to get the message out to the lost and hurting. You do practice what you preach and it is exciting to see all that God is doing in 2010.
