Today’s post comes from Chris Pipes, Minister of Connect Groups, Next Steps, and Discipleship at C3.
On this ninth day of our challenge, we are looking at Psalms 64-70.
Today’s Key Scripture: Psalm 67:1-2,7 (NIV)
May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us— so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. May God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.
Do you enjoy blessings from others? I know I do. It reminds me of a time when my family and I were secretly blessed with a free meal at a local restaurant. We had just moved to North Carolina and been at C3 for a few weeks, but didn’t know very many people. One night we went to one of our new favorite places to eat and when it was time to pay for the meal the server said it was already paid for. I was shocked. I quickly looked around the restaurant for anyone that looked familiar. I didn’t recognize anyone. I asked the server, “Who paid for our meal?” She said, “They want to remain anonymous.” Wow! That was a blessing to us.
Since then we’ve looked for ways to bless others in the same manner because we’ve been blessed. When God blesses us it’s our opportunity to be a blessing and not just hoard it all for ourselves. How will the world know who God is? God wants to bless you so you can become a “channel of blessing”. His desire is for you to make his ways known and share his salvation to all the world.
Prayer Focus: Dear God, thank you for being so gracious and blessing me way beyond what I could ever imagine or think. I don’t deserve your blessings, but I receive them whole-heartedly and commit to becoming a channel of blessing to those around me. Help me not to be selfish and instead to look for ways to serve others so that you may be lifted up. I ask all this in Jesus’ name, Amen!
