Today’s post comes from Michelle Carillet, Pre-school Minister at C3.
As we near the end of the first week of our 21 Day Challenge, we are looking at Psalms 41-48.
Today’s Key Scripture: Psalm 42:11, 43:5
“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.”
Have you ever had one of those weeks where you had so much on your plate that you knew it would take more than what you had to accomplish it? Or maybe it’s the weight of current circumstances. Perhaps you are trying to balance sick kids and work, bills and bank accounts, or “to-dos” and time. Whatever the case, we have all been there more times than we care to admit. When we do find ourselves in these places it is so easy to fall into a pit of discouragement and despair. Even though the author of these two verses found himself in a season such as this, he refused to allow his emotions to dictate his response. He told his feelings how they were going to respond: trust God and praise Him for who He is.
Last week in Pastor Matt’s message he referenced Nehemiah 8:10. This scripture reminds us that “The joy of the Lord is our Strength.” Pastor Matt mentioned that one of Satan’s top tactics is to steal our joy. He attacks this area because he knows it is from here that we draw our strength. If he can get at our strength, he can render us ineffective. If you find yourself facing one of those impossible tasks today, take joy in knowing that if God has called you to this path, then everything you need already dwells inside you.
Prayer Focus: As you spend some time in prayer, choose to praise God in spite of your circumstance. Know that no matter what you face today, you are never alone. He is always right there with you. Let the joy of that truth, fuel your strength today!
