Today’s Reading in the 21-Day Challenge is Matthew chapters 15-28
Matthew 20:24-28 (NIV), “When the ten heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers. Jesus called them together and said, ‘You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave-just as the son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many’.”
As we continue through the gospel of Matthew and study the teachings of Jesus and his ministry, take time to look for the underlying meaning in the parables. Jesus taught in parables and gave us illustrations to help us understand His heart. When you read of Christ’s death and resurrection pause and remember what He has done for you and for your family. And finally, take a moment to really mediate on the The Great Commission, the last verses of Matthew, and remember this is our command today.
God, I pray that you would help me to see the deeper meaning in the parables that you taught. Help me to see how they apply to my life today and how I can live these lessons out. I thank you for what you’ve done for me and I pray you would give me strength to live out the great commission. In Jesus’ name…Amen!
