14th Anniversary Devotional: Day 8

Day 8: EQUIP Believers
And when you assume the posture of prayer, remember that it’s not all asking.
If you have anything against someone, forgive—only then will your heavenly Father be inclined to also wipe your slate clean of sins.”
Mark 11:23-25 MSG
In the verse above, Jesus is giving instructions for approaching prayer. Maybe you’ve never considered the approach to prayer, but it’s critical to get it right. Jesus is saying we can’t just begin praying for God to move in our lives if we have unresolved relational conflict. Matters of relational conflict that go unaddressed keep us from being righteous in the eyes of God, and prayer will lack its full power if coming from an unrepentant heart. So what Jesus means is to go and talk to that family member you’re not on good terms with, or go and discuss why you’re not getting along with that coworker. Forgive them for any part they had in the dispute. Afterwards, you can approach God in prayer with a pure heart. C3 has been built on the prayers of many and we believe, as we are halfway through these devotions, that God is moving in a big way to prepare the hearts of the people of C3 and those yet to come.

Praise God for giving us the opportunity to have our slate wiped clean of sins. Ask God to forgive you for approaching prayer with unresolved conflicts in your life. Thank God for his instructions on prayer and forgiveness. Give thanks for the ability to talk to God in prayer. Pray for the people in your life that you’re having a conflict with. Pray for courage and support from God to approach them with love and seeking a resolution. Pray for forgiveness for your heart and theirs.
