Yesterday was an incredible day in the life of C3! We celebrated our 12 Year Anniversary as a church, an we returned all the glory to God for all He has done in the last 12 years, and all He is going to continue to do in the years to come! We had 2 powerful services, and invited all the children from kindergarten up to join us in our celebration!
It was also our Supernatural Offering Sunday, and we gave an offering toward the vision of 2011! It was such a powerful time in our service as everyone from young children to teenagers to older adults gave their offering toward the vision of “Providing Real Hope for Real People in a Real World.”
Matt also wrapped up our sermon series, SUPERNATURAL with a great word from the miracle feeding the five thousand from John 6. If you missed it, you can hear it here. He had strong points from what happened after Jesus performed the miracle of multiplication….
THEY REALIZED THAT JESUS IS THE SUPERNATURAL ONE!
John 6: 14 “When the people say him do this miraculous sign, they exclaimed, ‘Surely, he is the Prophet we have been expecting!” (NLT)
Here we see, they went from knowing about the miracle that God did to knowing the God of the Miracle, and recognizing him as the one they’d been expecting. They had not only seen the supernatural, but now they knew the God of the Supernatural!
SOME PEOPLE TOTALLY MISSED THE MIRACLE!
John 6:22-27, “The next day the crowd that had stayed on the far shore saw that the disciples had taken the only boat, and they realized Jesus had not gone with them. Several boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the Lord had blessed the bread and the people had eaten. So when the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and went across to Capernaum to look for him. They found him on the other side of the lake and asked, “Rabbi, when did you get here?” Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you understood the miraculous signs. But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.”(NLT)
From this passage we see that some people totally missed the miracle! Instead of seeing Jesus as the Messiah, they focused on the fact that their stomachs were full! Jesus explained to them that if all they saw was a good lunch, they totally missed the fact that we have a GOOD God! This can be so true of us sometimes. We miss out on what God is really trying to do in us and through us because we are focused on the temporary, not the eternal.
John 6:27, 35, “But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you.” … Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”(NLT)
Matt left us with a great challenge…Do we want to expereince a Good God or a good lunch? Do we want to have a life changing relationship with the Creator of the Universe and live the SUPERNATURAL life? Or, do we want to just live for today and consume what we can?
I know I want to live the supernatural life and experience a Great God! Our God is such a good God and a loving God that when we do know Him and we don’t miss what He is doing in our lives, He does use us and He satisfies all of our needs.
Matthew 6:33, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”(NASB)
