10 Benefits of Giving

This past weekend as we continued our series All In I shared about the power of giving and generosity.  When we are all in to God He has our
heart! And He promises us He will give us the desires of our heart if we
delight in Him. Here are 10 benefits that I’ve experienced to giving and
generosity:

1. It brings
order to your life and finances

2. It
demonstrates that God has first place in your life.

3. It stretches
my faith.

4. It reminds me
that I am not in control but God is.

5. I get to
celebrate when lives are changed.

6. I get to
model for my kids what Biblical stewardship looks like.

7. I play a part
in getting the gospel out around the world.

8. It breaks the
grip of greed and selfishness in my life.

9. I get to
invest in something much bigger than me that will last much longer than me.

10. I discover
that I can never out give God!

Luke 6:38, “Give,
and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and
running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it
will be measured to you.”(NIV)

Here’s a personal
testimony of the blessings of generosity:

We began attending C3 in March of 2004. I recommitted my life to Christ
shortly after our first weekend and my husband was saved here. I had understood
the principle of tithing having been raised in church but this was foreign to
my husband. While we would give some, it was never a full tithe. I prayed for
God to touch my husband’s heart, didn’t nag him and prayed God would change his
heart. And…He did. Out of the blue one week, my husband told me we needed to
give our full tithe, the fistfights of what we made. We haven’t missed a week
since and once we began the DREAM campaign, we jumped on board immediately and
committed to giving over and above our tithe. Through the years, we have seen
God do so many amazing things in our family; after nine years of infertility
God gave us a second child, we began serving in the church and God has promoted
us through the years, both of our children were baptized here, some of our
family are attending & serving here and we’re believing for all of them to
be here one day. God has restored relationships in our family, provided for us
financially and shown His faithfulness is more ways than we can count. We’ve
committed to a lifestyle of generosity & giving whatever we can…our
financial resources, our time, our talents, school supplies, angel tree
gifts…whatever…to build His Kingdom. We can’t put a price on the faithfulness
and love that God has shown our family. Giving isn’t about us; it’s never
been…it’s ALL about Him. Giving opened our eyes to see God in a new way; His power,
His love, His mercy, His grace and His provision. It’s never been about us and
never will be…it’s an honor to give and be used by God.”
